Up until the birth of my son I was a very healthy person. I got sick approximately once every two years. Now, thanks to all the germs the little bugger picks up, I get sick all the time. I have been sick about 5 times this winter. Not just an annoying cold that lasts a few days. Like really, really sick. About a month ago I felt like I was as sick as I have ever been. At first I was mildly sick during the week and thought I was recovered on Friday...just in time to meet up with a friend for a few beers then go to a concert. I woke up on Saturday morning and felt like I was dying (not that I really know what that feels like). I didn't really get out of bed until I went to work the following Thursday. I figured at that point that I was through the winter and I wouldn't be getting sick again any time soon. Fast forward to last weekend where I found myself vomiting on the streets of Seattle, completely sober. Yes!
So, after that happened, I've pretty much had it. I take decent care of myself. I could definitely exercise more, but I eat pretty well. However, whatever I am doing is not working. Maybe it's just inevitable that I will get sick, but I am going to be proactive just in case. I have decided that I am going to be completely sober until I go to a wedding in Mexico in late May. I haven't gone that long without a beer since I had my first one at 14. Yikes. I'm actually looking forward to seeing how I feel at the end. I want to use the time to exercise and try to get on a path to being in tip-top shape. I'm still too sick to exercise but as soon as I am 100% it's go time.
I'm posting this publicly to make me stick to my word even though the chances of anyone seeing it roughly equal to zero.
